Colombian Navy intercepted in the Gulf of Urabá 22 illegal immigrants from Bangladesh, India, Pakist

The Colombian Navy intercepted in the Gulf of Urabá, between the municipalities of Acandí and Turbo, a boat carrying 22 illegal migrants of different nationalities. The objective of these illegal migrants was to reach Central America to continue traveling to the United States. The events took place at dawn on Thursday, August 30.

Colombian Colonel David Serpa Mora, commander of Task Force "Neptune", reported that illegal migrants came from Cameroon, Bangladesh, Cuba, Gambia, India and Pakistan. The colonel further explained that the two Coyotes (human traffickers) who piloted the boat were captured and put in prison. Illegal migrants were handed over to Migración Colombia to proceed with their deportation.

"The way to operate these criminals is to take these people to Panama, from where they embark on other boats and go up through Central America to reach the United States, and in recent times we have realized that also towards Canada," revealed the Colombian colonel.
